So the people has spoken and weird controller is the best thing since sliced bread, but the console wars are brutal and the competitors are not above to retro engineer the opposition weapons and use against them.

Recently a heard again(read actually) the rumors about wii like controllers for the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but i wonder how this will affect the market, since people may considere it a wii copy or something like that, but true or not, Sony and Microsoft will probably unveil the new controller in early june at the E3.

Sony currently offers motion-sensing capabilities in the DualShock 3 wireless controller, which is available as an accessory to the PS3. However, the new controller would be far more advanced, possibly eclipsing the accuracy of the controller for the Nintendo Wii console.

The Sony controller would use light-emitting diodes and a Webcam to track the gadget’s movements. The technology would be able to track the direction of movements better than the Wii-mote, and also track velocity.

Initially unveiled  last year, the “Gametrak Freedom” motion sensing remote control for Xbox 360 and the PS3 has undergone a bit of a makeover and is currently on display at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

IGN reports that the controller will be available this fall for the Xbox 360, “with a PS3 variation potentially following next year.” The Freedom bears a striking resemblance to the Nintendo Wii remote and will ship with a USB-port base station connected to two wands that sit on either side of your TV. Unlike the Wii remote, the Freedom won’t require line-of-sight but will instead use “ultrasonic 3D positioning” to relay the remote’s position via a series of pulses.
